BACKGROUND EXAMPLE
------------------
Dt25-04a Dont muzzle an OX while threshing:
RASHI: Dont muzzle ANY ANIMAL

Lv01-02c Offer ANIMALS--Offer OXEN SHEEP
RASHI: You can **ONLY** offer OXEN and SHEEP

Dt18-03b These are the laws for those who offer sacrifices
         Whether from Oxen or Sheep
RASHI: So these laws only apply to OXEN and SHEEP not to
       beasts and birds

Why the difference? Why in one verse do we generalize OXEN to any
animal, while in the other verse we restrict the law to ONLY oxen

OVERVIEW
--------
This module (which we have called CLIMAX) deals with the rules
governing the interpretation of Biblical examples. If the Torah
for example said "Eat apple pies" how should this be interpretd?

--Should we say "Eat apple pies" means **ONLY** eat apple pies
--Should we say "Eat apple pies" means eat ANYTHING TASTY
--Should we say "Eat apple pies" means eat FRUIT pies

In other words, how do we interpret the Biblical EXAMPLE
apple pie. Here are the rules governing interpretation
of Biblical EXAMPLES---the EXAMPLES summarizing the past
month will follow.

                -GRAND SUMMARY PART 1-

                -IN METHOD 1 WE GENERALIZE-

METHOD 1: GENERALIZE
--------------------
EXAMPLES METHOD OF INTERPRETATION
-------- ------------------------
Eat APPLE PIES CONCLUSION: Eat ANY FOOD TREAT
Dt25-04 Dont muzzle an ox CONCLUSION: Dont muzzle ANY ANIMAL

-IN METHOD 2 WE DONT GENERALIZE-

METHOD 2a: GENERAL-SPECIFIC-- The GENERAL WORD=The SPECIFIC word
----------------------------------------------------------------
EXAMPLES
--------
Eat TASTY PIES--APPLE pies
         CONCLUSION: So TASTY PIES=APPLE pies
Nu15-12 She DESCECRATES marriage--SLEEPS with another man
         CONCLUSION: DESCECRATES marriage=Adultery

METHOD 2b: GENERAL-SPECIFIC--ONLY use the SPECIFIC
--------------------------------------------------
EXAMPLES
--------
Eat PIES--APPLE PIES CONCLUSION: **ONLY** eat apple pies
Lv01-02 Offer animals-oxen CONCLUSION: Only oxen can be offered

METHOD 2c: GENERAL-SPECIFIC--The SPECIFIC adds a REQUIREMENT
-------------------------------------------------------------
EXAMPLES
--------
Eat PIES--with SPRINKLES
         CONCLUSION: Pies must have sprinkles
Dt21-17b Give the 1st born twice the inheritance of WHAT HE HAS
CONCLUSION: The right of the 1st born to inherit double only
    applies to tangible assets
(Things that "the FATHER HAS") It does not eg apply to stocks

-IN METHOD 3 WE PARTIALLY GENERALIZE-

METHOD 3a: (GENERAL)-SPECIFIC-GENERAL--
GENERALIZE the details to span a spectrum of the GENERAL
Perceive the details as exhausting components of the
general EVEN if the verse is not that clear (that is
stretch the meanings to fit into this pattern)
(In method 3a the meaning of the components was clear)
------------------------------------------------------------
EXAMPLES
--------
Eat PIES---BLUEBERRY, APPLE, CHERRY PIES----EAT PIES
CONCLUSION: Eat pies of any COLOR--Blue, Yellow, Cherry
Lv19-18 Don't hate EMOTIONAL
         Rebuke your friend VERBAL
         Dont take revenge ACTION
eg If he didn't loan you, nevertheless
         you should loan him
Love thy neighbor like thyself GENERAL

METHOD 3b: DETAIL-DETAIL--GENERAL
Perceive the details as exhausting components of the
general EVEN if the verse is not that clear (that is
stretch the meanings to fit into this pattern)
(In method 3a the meaning of the components was clear)
(In method 3b the meaning of the components is not clear)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
EXAMPLES
--------
Eat the apples, honey, bread--eat the pie
CONCLUSION:
Eat the apples---the fruit from which the pie is made
Eat the honey----the sugar or sweets on the pie
Eat the bread----this is the crust-flour
Eat the pie------A pie must have fruit, sweets, flour-crust

Dt19-19 Don't pervert justice (eg convict an innocent person)
Don't RECOGNIZE people (eg smile at one litigant
                                but ignore the other)
Don't take bribes (even for a true verdict since
it will distort your sense of justice)
JUSTICE JUSTICE PURSUE--create a nice legal atmosphere

METHOD 3c: DETAIL-DETAIL-..GENERAL:
The details LEAD UP, over TIME, to the GENERAL
---------------------------------------------------------
EXAMPLE
--------
Gather your family, celebrate your anniversary,
eat a sumptuous meal, enjoy your pie

CONCLUSION:
We are taught how it is proper to eat a pie(without overeating)
---first make sure your family OR FRIENDS are there
---only do it by celebrations like anniversaries
---be sure to have a main meal
---Under such circumstances you should have a pie

Dt19-11 (Description of stages of murder)
IF a person HATES a person
and he STALKS/SPIES on him
and he CONFRONTS him
and he MURDERS him
