Subject: Re: Isiah 6:2
QUESTION: How are the 6 wings of the Burner-Angels in Isa06
to be explained.(Cross reference to question in Volume 5 Number 56--
why do the angels mentioned in Isiah cover their feet)
ANSWER:
This is answered by Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch
(though I forget the exact source) in his commentary on the Bible. Rav
Hirsch says that the ideal way to serve God is to do his will (a) without
asking WHERE you are going (covering your face) (b) without asking HOW you
are getting there (covering your feet) but (c) by simply doing God's will
(2 wings to fly)
In passing if anyone can point out WHERE Rav Hirsch says this I would be
indebted.
