Yes. See Rambam Rebellious Elders 6:8 < Even though children must respect
parents nevertheless parents should NOT be harsh or petti with them for it
might lead to rebellion..indeed a father who hits a grown son is
excommunicated because the father has VIOLATED THE BIBLICAL COMMANDMENT "Do
not put a stumbling block before the blind">
