QUESTION: Do we really need prophecy for moral guidance?
< < ...I guess I do not understand the problem. G-d has made Himself and His
ways known from the very first man. Mankind is in fact created to image
Him. The Law did not originate with Abraham or Moshe. It predates them.
Adam knew it. Noah knew it. Judgment came by the great flood because man
knew and breached G-d's Law. Gentiles are responsible for the Noahadic
laws. Hammurabi was being a responsible gentile ruler.> >

ANSWER:
Actually our traditions in several places teach that there was a famous
Noachide Rabbinic school founded by Noach's sons--Shem and Ever who
according to one Rashi possessed prophetic powers (Gen 25:22). I have
always suspected that Hamurabi's code came from Shem and Evers Yeshiva.
Does anyone have any comments/proofs on this?
