Subject: Re: Baptized Grandson
I was of course shocked and dismayed to hear of the personal tragedy of
Malka211@aol.com whose son was baptized(Torah Forum v4n80)
Malka211, through our email group, is already aware that her son is STILL
Jewish.
There are numerous groups that help bring such people back. It is
definitely possible for Malka to do specific things to enable this.
I hope the others reading her note will take the time to give her contacts,
ideas and methods for so doing.
I would like to think that Torah Forum is not only about ideas but also
about deeds and helping people. I recall quite a few personal incidents
mentioned in the last few volumes.
If it is any help, when I was in college I met a girl who had been dragged
into one of these sects. Her parents acted immediately. They contacted the
Bostoner Rebbe (now in Har Nof) who arranged with a Lubavitch psychologist
to help the person. She was brought to a college Shabbaton where she had an
opportunity to meet many Jewish peers of her own age group.
About 3 years later she told me she was going on aliyah and thanked me for
the few conversations we had had.
So we are really in a position to do something.
