Subject: RE: Age of Earth

I initially laid down the theory that * the world was created in 4 billion
years with man appearing 1 million years ago.
* Gen 1 is speaking not about creation of the physical world but creation
of the prophetic world. It was prophecy that was created 6000 years ago.
Adam was the first prophet (not the first human).

Wackyadam asks:
< < Why do we have to believe the world is 4 billion years old> >

Excellent point. You don't. I hearby modify my position

* Gen 1 is speaking not about the creation of the physical world bu t
creation of the prophetic world. Adam was the first prophet not the first
human. The first prophecies happened 6000 years ago. Gen 1 is a description
of the lights of prophecy.

* Gen 1 is indifferent to any statements about the physical world. As the
Rambam says the Torah is a book about the soul not about physics. So you
can believe or disbelieve as you please.

Thank you Wackyadam. Incidentally...would it be asking to much if you use
your American name instead of your email name (Wackyadam..we all enjoy your
postings)
