The Rashi Yomi Website is up. Please visit it at
           http://www.RashiYomi.Com/.
You can find all 100 or so Daily Rashis there in
2 neat pull down menus. One pull down gives all
postings while the other gives all summaries.
So you can spend a pleasant Sunday refreshing
on everything we've done (Or Print them out and read
them over Shabbath) The "ad" for it is in this
issue of Chevruta.

Because I rewrote my whole website I didn't have
that much time to put into the Daily Rashis. That
is why I have been spending 2-3 weeks on the word
ALL.We are about finished. I have to check which
Rashis if any I haven't done and post them. I'll
probably do that next week.

But now that I have more time I wanted to get back
into the swing of things. Over Shabbath I heard
a wonderful shiur by Rabbi Leibtag who also writes
on Rashi. He spoke about Moses sin by Meriva.

So I began looking at that situation myself. It is
coming up next week in the weekly portion and I
thought I would devote a few sessions to it. This
will provide a wonderful opportunity to see the
difference between my approach and other people
approaches. Anyway it is good to get back to
the full swing of Rashi research.

We start with Nu20-12
Since you(Moses and Aaron) did NOT BELIEVE IN
me to Sanctify me in front of the whole nation
therefore you will not bring this nation into
         ISRAEL.
We will begin to focus in this issue on the phrase
YOU DID NOT BELIEVE IN ME
It turns out there is a long list of verses where Moses
did NOT BELIEVE in God

#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*# (C) Dr Hendel, 2000 *#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#
EXAMPLE 1: Ex05-22
---------
Moses had just been told to go to Pharoh with miracles and
release the nation. But not only did Pharoh refuse, he also
increased the Jewish workload. So Moses angrily says

Ex05-22 Why did you mistreat this people why did you send me

God answers Moses

>Ex06-01a You will see what I will do to Pharoh
He will let the people Go with a strong hand
For the Patriarchs did not see the promises
I made to them fulfilled but you will see

>RASHI Why did you suspect me. Abraham did not suspect
me when

Ex 1a:
---------I told him to go to Egypt and he was worried
he would be killed and his wife raped(Gn12-12)
Ex 1b:
---------I told him he would have a son who would
inherit him and then asked him to sacrifice
         that son Gn22-01
Ex 1c:
---------I told him I would make him a great nation
even though he was childless and Abraham
did not complain but believed in God (Gn15-06)

In these instances Abraham did not complain to
God. But Moses did complain. In fact...

EXAMPLE 2: Ex17-04a
-------------------
When the nation complained about lack of water Moses
said

>Ex17-04a IN A LITTLE BIT they will kill me
>RASHI: (Rashi translates the Hebrew words IN A LITTLE BIT
based on the 5 other times it occurs in the Bible
         (See {LIST1} below).

Notice how even though both Moses and Abraham were worried
about being murdered, nevertheless, Abraham DID NOT
complain but Moses DID complain.

Tomorrow we will see Gods answer to Moses and continue
this list of verses which showed that Moses did not
have the same faith level as Abraham. For those who
want to prepare try making your own list.

{LIST1} {The 5 verses with the words A LITTLE BIT. As
can be seen it means IN A LITTLE WHILE. The actual
Hebrew words are LITTLE (MAT) and MORE (OD).
Together they make a new phrase LITTLE MORE or
         in English LITTLE BIT}

VERSE: TEXT WITH THE PHRASE "A LITTLE BIT"
======= ===================================
Ex17-04 IN A LITTLE BIT they will stone me
Is10-25 IN A LITTLE BIT there will be destructive anger
Is29-17 IN A LITTLE BIT Lebanon will become like a rich meadow
Jr51-33 IN A LITTLE BIT Babylon will be threshed
Hs01-04 IN A LITTLE BIT I will avenge Yizriel
