GOALS:
------
I decided its time for a longer unit.

This unit will focus on a major Rashi task--explaining
the MEANINGS OF WORDS.

Explaining the MEANINGS of WORDS is more than looking
something up in a dictionary. There are METHODS to
explaining WORDS.

Thus in this module we will explore HOW Rashi determines
the meanings of words -- that is, we will explore WHAT
RASHIS METHODS ARE

TODAYS UNIT
-----------
We are almost thru with this unit on meaning. I hope
you have enjoyed it. In the last few days we will
give examples of how words can be combined to make
new phrases.

REFERENCE:
----------
This module comes from the following reference in the

BACKGROUND
----------
We give examples below of phrases composed of several words
EACH of whose meaning is known. But together these words
form a new concept.

EXAMPLE 71: Lv13-19a REDDISH WHITE means PINK
====================

(Rashi's point is that the red is an adjective
but white is an adverb (A modifier of an adjective)
It is not a red-white streaked object but rather
      a WHITISH RED, a pink.

The Rambam gives the analogy of a few drops of blood
in Milk. So MILK=White while the Blood-dropped-milk
would be pinkish, not RED and WHITE streaks)

Hence this Rashi is an example of two words forming
a new concept: The two words dont refer to RED &
      WHITE streaks but to PINK.

EXAMPLE 72: Lv13-39a WEAK WHITE
====================

Not weak AND white but a WEAKER WHITE(Pale white or
greyish white)
