CHAPTER 22
==========
Today we translate chapter 22 which
according to the outline contains
- ROUND 3
- DIALOG 1
- Eliphaz-s refutation of Jobs previous answers to him

A summary of dialogs till now is as follows
--------------------------------------------------------
ELIPHAZ: Suffering comes to teach & improve
JOB: SUFFERING improves;but PAIN prevents improvement

BILDAD: Suffering comes from sin;Success from observance
JOB: But national tragedies affect righteous/wicked alike

TZORFAR: Suffering comes to encourage more Learning
JOB: Mans life is too short; he cant learn that much more

ELIPHAZ(ROUND 1): Suffering comes to teach and improve
ELIPHAZ(ROUND 2): Suffering/happiness is INNER not OUTER
JOB (Round 1): SUFFERING improves;but PAIN prevents improvement
JOB (Round 2): UNJUST PAIN prevents learning; I-m unjustly tortured

BILDAD(ROUND 2):Success/Failure comes from presence/absence of dreams
JOB(Round 2): But my suffering prevents me from dreaming

TZORFAR(Round 1): Suffering comes to encourage more Learning
JOB(Round 2): Mans life is too short; he cant learn that much more
TZOFAR(Round 2): Wicked go quickly-righteous gradually(Time to learn)
JOB(ROUND 2): Wicked have long enjoyable lives
--------------------------------------------------------

We have advanced the idea that the 3 friends EACH had
their own dialog with Job. Let us therefore review
ELIPHAZ-s previous arguments with Job and Jobs answers

-----------------------------------------------------
ELIPHAZ(ROUND 1): Suffering comes to teach and improve
JOB (Round 1): SUFFERING improves;but PAIN prevents improvement
ELIPHAZ(ROUND 2): Suffering/happiness is INNER not OUTER
JOB (Round 2): UNJUST PAIN prevents learning; I-m unjustly tortured
-----------------------------------------------------

So ELIPHAZ is simple---in round 3 his basic idea is
an answer to Jobs previous responses

---------------------------------------------------------------
ELIPHAZ (Round 3):Job, You ARE wicked-you avoid cries of Widows
---------------------------------------------------------------

Eliphaz cites the classic party line
He answers Job on his own terms
- Even if you are religious Job you
- dont help every widow and orphan
- you are afraid of people in power
-
- AND THIS ACT OF ABSTENTION IS IN
- AND OF ITSELF A SIN

In other words because Job abstains from
helping people he is CONSIDERED evil
and that is the reason for his suffering.

Here are the 5 sections of this chapter.

----------------------------------------------------------
ELIPHAZ(ROUND 3):Job, You ARE wicked-you avoid cries of Widows
-----------------------------------------------------------
(Job22-02:04) Do you really want answers to your questions?
(Job22-05) Job: You do have sins
(Job22-05:11) You sin by not feeding every widow and orphan
(Job22-11:20) Does God care about day-to-day things or big picture
(Job22-21:30) Accept God-repent-help widows-all will be well
-----------------------------------------------------------

On a technical point, the reader can of
course recognize chapter subsections by content.
However the reader can also recognize chapter
subsections by KEYWORDS which introduce these
subsections. The sections of this chapter begin
with the Hebrew Keywords
- DO
- ARE NOT
- BECAUSE
- OR
- PLEASE

Notice that the 2nd section is just one sentence -- JOB
YOU ARE EVIL--which introduces TWO SECTIONS each with
a component of Jobs evil ((1) he abstains from helping
widows and (2) he doesnt think God cares about day-to-day
activities but rather about the larger picture)
