VERSE: Gn35-16a

We align Gn35-16&19 with Gn48-07

---------------------------------------------------------------
Gn35-16 & there was still THE measure of land to come
Gn48-07 when there was still A measure of land to come
                                *1

Gn35-16 to the outskirts of Ephrath & she was buried
Gn48-07 to the outskirts of Ephrath & I buried her there
                                          *2

Gn35-16 in the road to the outskirts of Ephrath
Gn48-07 in the road to Ephrath
                *3 *4

Gn35-16 which is Beth Lechem
Gn48-07 Which is Beth Lechem

Gn35-16 in the road to the outskirts of Ephrath
Gn48-07 in the road to Ephrath
                *3 *4

Gn35-16 which is Beth Lechem
Gn48-07 which is Beth Lechem
-------------------------------------------------------------------

*1 "THE measure of land" vs "A measure of land" indicates it was
a standard measure of land (eg a mile) *5

*2 "I buried her" vs "She was buried" emphasizes the "I"---
It was I who buried her (For the explanation that he buried
her under Prophetic order see the other footnotes)

*3 RULE: The repetition of any noun implies a broad interpretation
should be used. So "ROAD ROAD" means "out in the open in vulnerable
places

*4 The change "EPHRATH" vs "OUTSKIRTS OF EPHRATH" means the city
expanded(Hence what was before the outskirts was not Ephrath itself)
If Jacob nevertheless buried her OUTSIDE the city in the OPEN
places (when the city was so close) it shows he was acting on
prophetic orders.

Apparently Jacob wanted, under prophetic order, to make RACHEL
a symbol. RACHEL afterall was the simple of TRAGEDY (She was
cursed to death by her husband, she was robbed of her wedding
night by her sister, she was inferior in having children etc)

So anyone out in the open who came to her grave could empathize
with her and be encouraged to pray. (In passing Rashis citation
of Jer31-14 "Rachel cries on her children (who passed her grave
when going into exile)" is simply a GOOD EXAMPLE of the
above interpretations---Rashi did NOT mean to exhaust the meaning
of our verse with the Jer verse)

*5 There is a 4 ways controversy on the etymology of this word
which is resolved in the main posting (eg CVRTH comes from BRH
to EAT WELL and hence indicates the length it takes to walk
from dawn to a meal
