In this series we will review all Rashis on
        >FULL &
        >DEFICIENT SPELLINGS
A person completing this module will be able, him or herself,
to naturally produce the same interpretations as Rashi and
Chazal.

REVIEW ISSUE
------------
In this issue we review all cases where Rashi interprets
      >DEFICIENCY in SPELLING = DEFICIENCY in ACT or PERSON
or
      >DEFICIENCY in SPELLING = DEFICIENCY in NUMBER
This review will help consolidate all the examples we have
done so far. The review is exhibited using FILL-IN sentences.

>>FIRST WE PRESENT EXAMPLES WHERE
        >DEFICIENCY in SPELLING = DEFICIENCY in PERSON/ACT

           >EPHRON was a bad ____________ person.
           >He promised the field for nothing but then wanted
           >the best currency

>Gn25-24b >(Rivkah) ..had TW NS

>RASHI: >The word TW NS is spelled DEFICIENCY because one of
           >Rivkah's children, Esauv, was a bad_________person

But by contrast by

>Gn38-27b >(Tamar) ...had TWINS

>RASHI: >Here, the word TWINS is spelled FULLY, because both
        >of Tamars' children were RIGHTEOUS _________ people
        >(Her children were leaders of the tribe of Judah)

>Dt01-13g >..bring to me qualified men and I will PL CE them
           >as judges over you

>RASHI: >The PL CEMENT of Judges is spelled DEFICIENTLY
           >since this PLACEMENT is a not an honor but a
           >_____________ placement. Indeed if people sin
           >because of the incorrect decisions of the judge
           >then it is the judge who gets punished not the
           >people.

>Nu15-24b >..if the people sin ..then they will bring a
           > ELEVATION offering ..and a SIN OF ERING.

>RASHI >The word,SIN OF ERING, is spelled DEFICIENTLY
           >since this SIN OFFERING is ______________; it
           >is inferior to all other sin offerings--since
           >all other sin offerings are brought 1st while
           >the ELEVATION offering is brought 2nd; in
           >this chapter however the sin offering is
           >brought 2nd

>Lv26-42a >I will remember my convenant with JAACOB

>RASHI: >JACOB symbolizes exile. In this verse
           >JAACOB is spelled _____ since the ________
           >symbolic meaning of JACOB includes not only
           >exile but also REDEMPTION, the completion of
           >exile(Cf the Explicit statement of this in
           >Gn49-01:02)

>>NEXT WE PRESENT EXAMPLES WHERE
   >DEFICIENCY IN SPELLING = DEFICIENCY IN NUMBER/PLURALITY

>Lv09-12a >I have placed my rainbow in the convenant as
            >a sign for GENERATONS (that I will not
            >bring a flood)

>RASHI: >The word GENERATONS is spelled _____________
            >Indeed the rainbow is a sign for MOST
            >generations but not for ALL generations
            >(Since some generations are righteous and
            >do not need a sign since they will not be
            >destroyed)

>Gn01-28a >And God spoke to them (Adam and Eve) and said
          >be FRUITFUL
          >& MULTIPLY
          >& fill the earth
          >& CONQUR IT

>RASHI: >The word CONQUR is spelled __________ since not
          >ALL of them (Adam and Eve) were asked to CONQUER
          >the world (Only Adam, the man, was requested to
          >CONQUER---Eve was not).

          >required a Mezuzah

>Lv23-40c >And you will take on Succoth LLAVS, myrtles....

>RASHI: >The word LLAVS is spelled DEFICIENTLY since you
          >do NOT have to take _______________LULAVS(the
          >same way you take MANY myrtles and MANY aravoth)
          >Instead you only need take 1 Lulav

          >that not __________ sea MONSTERS were created.
          >Indeed, God only created the MALE sea monsters

          >that not ________TABLETS were needed---only 1
          >TABLET was needed (That is: The full set of
          >10 commandments were written on each tablet--
          >this contradicts the usual picture where 5
          >commandments are written on each tablet).

>SUMMARY: DEFICIENCY in SPELLING can mean
------- >DEFICIENCY in ACT or PERSON (a bad person)
                >DEFICIENCY in NUMBER or PLURALITY(not all)

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: As already pointed out the idea that
        >DEFICIENCY in SPELLING=DEFICIENCY in NUMBER
was first advanced by Rav Hirsch who explained several
advanced and difficult talmudic passages.
