GOALS:
------
In this short module we compare verses on 5 capital crimes.
in each case we will see a pair of verses.

* One verse says there is a DEATH penalty
* One verse says the person is CUT OFF from his nation

The traditional approach says that a DEATH PENALTY happens
if there are witnesses while if there are no witnesses
then there is extinction.

This module will be a bit different in flavor than previous
modules. The punchy proof of Rashi will not occur till the
end of the unit. In other words the proof will come from
the ENTIRE list and not from any PARTICULAR verse


TODAYS UNIT

We study the crimes of Adultery and Shabbat descecration
Here we will see more clearly the DEATH PENALTY-EXTINCTION
distinction.

The Bible is discussing the prohibition of descecrating
the Shabbath. The Bible says 2 contradictory things

THE VERSE
---------
He who desecrates her (the Sabbath) will DIE
Because all who descecrate her will be CUT OFF FROM THEIR NATION

THE RASHI
---------
* If there are witnesses then the descecration is a CAPITAL crime
* If there arent witnesses then the descecrator is CUT OFF

We deal with the crime of adultery


THE VERSES
----------
Lv18-29 Whoever does these abominations will be CUT OFF
Lv20-10 Whoever commits adultery will be placed to DEATH

COMMENT
-------
There is no explicit Rashi on these two verses.
However we may transfer the distinction we learned from
other verses to these verses

* If there are witnesses then the adulterers receives DEATH
* If there are no witnesses the adulterers are CUT OFF
  from their nation
