   The GRAND SUMMARY of Ex7-19 will appear Saturday
   Today we start a new module
   =========================================================
GOALS:
======
This module reviews the NAMES OF JACOBS CHILDREN. 11 children
are named and the Bible uses ALMOST identical language in
describing their names. But there are 4 minor differences
which indicate subtle nuances about these children.

TODAYS UNIT
===========
Today we present the basic LIST of 4 differences as well as
begin to explain them

THE NAMING OF THE 12 TRIBES

EXAMPLE 1: Gn30-10a

BACKGROUND
----------
Gn30 describes the naming of the 12 tribes.

THE TEXT
----------
The text is presented below. The naming of almost all 11
children is described by the Bible in identical language. However
there are 4 minor differences. e.g.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
SHE CONCEIVED and gave birth (Typical phrase)--eg Gn30-07
SHE ------------- gave birth (Rare;used by 2 children--Gn30-10)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

THE RASHI
---------
Rashi explains each of these 4 minor differences. For
example pregnancy is usually not visible in younger
woman. Hence Rashi concludes that ZILPAH, the matriarch
by whom CONCEPTION is not mentioned, was young and therefore
the CONCEPTION (PREGNANCY) was not noticeable

THE LISTS
---------
We present below the 4 differences. Today we comment on one
of these differences. The other 3 will be explained tomorrow.
In the list below differences are hilighted by CAPS.
TYPICAL PHRASE EXCEPTIONAL PHRASE EXCEPTION OCCURS
She CONCEIVED & gave birth She gave birth Gad, Asher*1
She conceived AGAIN She conceived Rvn,Dn,Joe,Yschr
SHE named him so & so HE named him so & so Levi
THEREFORE she named him she named him Judah,Dan,Levi
COMMENTS
*1 These were ZIPLAHS children The word CONCEPTION is mentioned
   by the other 3 matriarchs. Rashis notes that pregnancy is not
   always noticeable in younger woman and suggests that Zilpah
   was the youngest of the 4 matriarchs (Rashi also gives further
   reasons why the Torah tells us this but the main focus here
   is on differences in phraseology)
