Subject: Re: The Universe: Why Did G-d Create It?

Roger Perlman in Bais Medrash Volume 2 Number 15 disagrees that life
probably exists on other planets. I have posted an answer to this on Torah
forum in the past. A study by the RAND CORPORATION called "Habitable
Planets" carefully studies what is needed for life (water for cells, light,
atmosphere etc) and concludes that on the average we would have one
habitable planet every 4 cubic parsecs. The study is quite good and well
documented and I encourage everyone to read it. Of course such a statement
(life on other planets--is neither supported nor refuted by the Torah--but
is like any other scientific statement).
