With regard to Mike Turniasky's question "Since immediate retraction
invalidates sales should it also invalidate Kidushin (engagements)" (Bais
Medrash vol 1 n83): This is explicitly answered in Rambam Ishuth 7:22--the
engagement is still valid. This in turn is based on the Talmud Baba Bathra
129 "Immediate Retraction invalidates the initial statement except for
engagement and idolatry"
