VERY BRIEF SUMMARY ------------------ Many Rashi-ists perceive Rashi as explaining meaning, grammar and internal consistency. But an equally important set of Rashi rules is the explanation and citation of cross references to clarify verse meanings. EXAMPLE ------- Lv21-17:18 states ----------------------------------------------------- -- Blemish priests may not offer sacrifices -- BECAUSE BLEMISHED PRIESTS MAY NOT OFFER SACRIFICES ----------------------------------------------------- Notice how the reason and cause are the same. Rashi clarifies this with another verse where this is stated more explicitly Mal01-08 ----------------------------------------------------- If you offer a blind animal there is nothing wrong?
