VERY BRIEF SUMMARY ------------------ Many Rashis are basic, explaining MEANING or GRAMMAR However some Rashis are based on comparisons with other verses. When several similar verses are ALIGNED, the minor differences in these verses suggest new laws. EXAMPLE ------- Two 4 word phrases on sprinkling oil during the Lepor Guilt Offering Procedure give a punchy example By way of introduction recall that during the Lepor Guilt offering - 1st we sprinkle blood - then we sprinkle oil The oil is sprinkled on the same place as the blood was sprinkled. --------------------------------------------------------------- Lv14-17 sprinkle....ON THE ------------ BLOOD OF GUILT SAC Lv14-28a sprinkle....ON THE place of the BLOOD OF THE GUILT SAC --------------------------------------------------------------- From the alignment Rashi infers a simple nuance -- it is the PLACE that determines not the BLOOD. -- Hence the priest sprinkles even if the blood -- got washed off (So there was a PLACE OF BLOOD -- but no BLOOD) | ||
