LEND/LOAN on INTEREST

RASHIS COVERED: Dt23-20a TAKE BITE=TAKE Interest;CAUSE-BITE=PAY

VERY BRIEF SUMMARY
------------------
The Torah coins the term BITE to refer to INTEREST on a loan.
It is Biblically prohibited to have interests on loans. The
Torah uses 2 verb forms--
-- NOUN FORM: Dont give BITES
-- ACTIVE (to bite) and
-- CAUSATIVE (to make someone else bite you).
Clearly
--TO BITE refers to the PERSON LENDING taking INTEREST
--To give BITES also refers to the PERSON LENDING taking interest
--To CAUSE/ALLOW A BITE refers to the LENDER paying the interest

TODAYS LIST
-----------
We review and contrast verses with the root Nun-SHin-Caph
We see 3 forms
- NOUN Form (Give a BITE)
- ACTIVE TENSE (To BITE a lender)
- CAUSATIVE TENSE (Make someone take a BITE (from you))
VERSE FORM TEXT OF VERSE
Ex22-24 NOUN When you loan dont give BITES*1
Lv25-36 NOUN When helping the poor dont take BITES*1
Ez18-37 NOUN He did not take BITES or EXTRA (Interest)*1
Dt23-20 CAUSATIVE Dont CAUSE TO your brother BITINGS*2
Dt23-20 ACTIVE ...anything that can be BITEN*3
COMMENTS
*1 Clearly these verses refer to BITES of the LOANING PERSON
   on the LENDER

*2 So we translate this as DONT ALLOW YOUR BROTHER TO BITE
YOU (That is, do NOT pay the interest to him as he then
   has committed a Bite).

   - Thus Dt23-20 prohibits interest on the lender
   - WHile Lv25-36 prohibits interest on the loaning party

*3 BITEN by the LOANING PARTY
