List of verses with Root Gimel-Zayin=a)Shearing b)Swoop
VERSE MEANING TEXT OF VERSE WITH MEANING CAPPED
Nu11-31a SWOOP*1 quails SWOOPED in from the sea
P090-10 SWOOP our years quickly SwOOP; we fly away
Na01-12 SWOOP Although you have SWOOPED away; no more
------ ---- -----------------------------------------
Jb01-20 SHEARING Job rent his garments; SHEARED his hair
P072-06 SHEARING Justice to dislocated=dew on SHEARINGS
COMMENTS
*1 Here is development of the word meaning
- Root Gimel-Zayin-Zayin means TO SHEAR
- The NOUN form is SHEARINGS
- But SHEARINGS are lightweight and FLY VIOLENTLY in wind
- Hence related root Gimel-Vav-Zayin can mean
- - SHEARING
- - SWOOP (Fast flying)*10
LONGER FOOTNOTES

*10 The Radack in his book ROOTS, dissents
----------------------------
Gimel Zayin means to REMOVE
----------------------------

At first blush Radack's REMOVE seems related to SHEAR
which is a removal of fleece.

But closer examination shows that
- Radack simply gives basic category of REMOVAL
- Rashi ALSO gives ADVERBIAL NUANCES--REMOVE QUICKLY(SWOOP)

For this reason we prefer Rashi over Radack (because as
just indicated Rashi is more focused and richer in nuances)

I believe the above argument can serve as a model on
how to solve certain controversies among the early
authorities
